1. Please tell us about yourself.<\/strong>
\nI\u2019m Dana, living in Constanta (Romania). My nickname (\u201cdecenu\u201d) means \u201cwhynot\u201d; I chose it because when I found out about the crowdSPRIN\"\"<\/a>G I told myself: \u201cShould I dare? Why not!\u201d. I don\u2019t have anymore a classical regular job: for the last 3 years I work at my home; I realized that I knew more interesting people and encountered more bright ideas this way than if I had a normal job. I don\u2019t like undecided, untrustworthy. I\u2019m franc, uncompromising and sullen (not a very social type, I\u2019d say).<\/p>\n


\n2. How did you become interested in design?<\/strong>
\nI always liked to draw (since kindergarten) all kind of things, more or less abstract. I applied this in painting and art courses.<\/p>\n

I grew up and I stopped for a few years. When I decided to practice a job who doesn\u2019t become exhausted by its misfit (experience already checked), I returned to drawing and transformed the hobby into a job.<\/p>\n

3. Which of your designs are your favorites and why?<\/strong>
\n\"\"<\/a>Dombrowski Catering logo. I loved this project and the people behind it. It was very easy to tackle and the Buyer\u2019s feedback was extremely concise, helping me to provide the design they expected. The graphic design made for them was one of my most brilliant sparkles because it appears simple, even if there are a lot of details. Beside \u201cfavorite\u201d, I like all the designs I create. I don\u2019t create a design just to have an occupation, but because it is fun doing this.<\/p>\n


\n4. Who\/what are some of the biggest influences on your design work?<\/strong>
\nI like abstract shapes, strong colors, elegant curves. I like everything that stands out, visual and intellectual. I adore hidden designs because they are surprising and reveal gradually.<\/p>\n

5. How do you come up with ideas for concepts after you read a buyer’s creative brief?<\/strong>
\nUsually, I approach the new meanings of the words involved in the project (title, concept etc.). When it\u2019s about a limitary domain, I search for details such as images, websites, various characteristics, so I can form an idea about wh\"\"<\/a>at\u2019s all about, so the design doesn\u2019t appear tossed. Sometimes, it becomes a blind search because may appear meanings who are related specifically to a certain kind of culture\/geographical area who is strange to me, and I can\u2019t get the proper details. In this case, I stop my intention of participating to such a project \u2013 it\u2019s not prolific to waste anybody\u2019s time with babblings.<\/p>\n

I try to find and invent dimensions of a concept which weren\u2019t approached yet \u2013 even if I found this doesn\u2019t assure the success because people don\u2019t always like the idea of \u201csomething\u2026 very else\u201d \ud83d\ude42
\nWhen I read a brief, it forms me a loosely outlined\u00a0 idea (a word who can be drawn somehow or an idea who can be designed in a certain manner or even an assembly of shapes etc.). I start with some drawings (sometimes directly on my computer, other times I sketch by hand), I chose a list of maximum 2 fonts which I consider would be good for the project and establish the color palette. I bring together these elements and start to build the shape of the icon\/logo.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>
\n6. Mac or PC? <\/strong>
\nPC. I\u2019m not very good at technical stuff and I don\u2019t have the patience to learn such stuff. This is good and works for me. 95% of my work is made with CorelDraw. I use Adobe Illustrator just for preparing the final files, when the design is awarded and has to be delivered to the Buyer. I also use Adobe Photoshop\u00a0 but since almost all my work is vector-based, the Photoshop is more like an appendix who helps me on photo processing when needed.<\/p>\n


\n\"\"<\/a>7. What is your dream design project?<\/strong>
\nHmmm\u2026 A few years ago I should say: \u201cA project who brings me an enormous amount of money!\u201d.<\/p>\n

Now, my dream project is one where a concept designed by me would bring a new path in the graphic domain (Oh, the vanity!\u2026). Meanwhile – since the wheel has been already invented -, I like to consider all my design projects ideal ones. I like projects who don\u2019t take \u201cforever\u201d, where the demands are concise.<\/p>\n

8. How do you promote your work?<\/strong>
\nActually, I don\u2019t. It\u2019s done by the work itself. Outside crowdSPRING, I\u2019m recommended to my new clients by their predecessors so it wasn\u2019t necessary, until now, to be my own agent.<\/p>\n


\n9. Please describe your typical work day.<\/strong>
\nThat hurt\u2026 \u201cwork day\u201d? \ud83d\ude42 I don\u2019t have work days, in the classical acceptation of the word.
\nMy days begin with a large cup of coffee and cigarettes (yes, smoking isn\u2019t a good thing, but everybody has at least one vice). I read my e-mails. If I don\u2019t have ideas for the new projects on crowdSPRING and if there isn\u2019t any project on my other-works-list, I go out or find something else to do until the \u201cgenius\u201d rises. Generally, there is design and stuff.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

10. What are other ways you use your creativity?<\/strong>
\nFrom time to time I create handmade objects for home purposes and quite often changing the interior decoration in my home.<\/p>\n

11. If you weren\u2019t designing, what would you be doing?<\/strong>
\nSomething not boring, but I can\u2019t put my finger on something concrete.\"\"<\/a>
\nI take it like it is and if someday will be necessary to change my job, I\u2019ll decide at that time.<\/p>\n

12. What do you do with your free time?<\/strong>
\nReading, watching movies, knitting (no, I\u2019m not 70 years old :P) \u2013 it just relaxes me terribly -, cooking (not very often, but when I\u2019m in the mood, it\u2019s legendary!), shopping, hanging out.<\/p>\n
